The short version: I don't collect anything about you. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking cookies on this site.

Your maps

Maps are made on your device. Your current map and a short list of recent maps get saved in your browser's local storage so you can come back to them. That data stays on your device and never gets sent to me. You can remove it by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Share links

When you copy a share link, the map's settings are written into the address after the question mark, and any paint and label edits go after the # sign. Browsers don't send the part after the # to a website, so your edits only reach people you give the link to. The settings part does reach the web server when someone opens the link, the same as any other address. Anyone with the link can see the map, so only share it with people you're happy to show it to.

Server logs

Like nearly every website, this one sits on a hosting provider that keeps basic request logs, which can include your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for. They're used to keep the site running. I don't use them to identify anyone.

Fonts and other sites

The fonts and images load from this site, so opening a page doesn't contact a font or ad service. The homepage links to other map tools, and those sites have their own privacy policies once you click through.

Changes

If I ever add something that changes what's written here, like analytics, I'll update this page first.
